Wingecarribee Shire Council has appointed siteXcell as the Telecommunications Site Manager for the Mt Gibraltar telecommunications tower.

Situated atop of Mt Gibraltar, the Council owned tower is one of the most important and far-reaching pieces of public communications infrastructure in south-west NSW.

The tower is used by numerous national telecommunications companies, major television networks, local emergency services and not-for-profit organisations.

As part of the appointment of siteXcell to manage the tower, new protocols to access the facility have been implemented and notification has been issued to all authorised licensees.

Council ‘s Deputy General Manager Operations, Finance and Risk Mr Barry Paull said the appointment of a Site Manager would provide greater security for the facility.

“These new arrangements will also make the site safer and help safeguard this essential communications tower,” he said.

“This in turn will provide greater communications reliability for our local and regional communities.”
