In a bid to ease traffic congestion and increase parking availability around the Bowral Public and Private Hospitals, two hour parking signs are set to installed around the hospitals starting late November.

The installation of the limited parking signs follows a recommendation by Council’s Traffic Committee.

The signs will be erected on streets in the immediate vicinity of the hospitals including Sheffield Road and Bowral Street.

On-street car spaces will also be marked adjacent to the hospitals to increase parking availability.

Chair of the Local Traffic Committee, Councillor John Uliana explained the move.

“For some time now visitors and nearby residents have told us of their frustration finding parking around the Hospitals,” he said.

“The introduction of these limited parking signs is meant to deter the small minority of people doing the wrong thing by monopolising the car spaces.”

“It’s also hoped it will provide safer and more convenient access to the hospitals for both visitors and patients with mobility issues and surrounding residents.”

The signs will be installed by the end of November 2015.

Cautionary notices for offenders will cease two weeks after the installation date.
