Want to see your garden thrive throughout the growing season? We are thrilled to share an exciting opportunity to gain knowledge on how to enrich your soil with composting and worm farming. In collaboration with Compost Revolution, Wingecarribee Shire Council is hosting a series of free workshops this October to help get you started.

For all the nature lovers and sustainable living enthusiasts in our community, these workshops will give you practical knowledge and hands-on techniques for reducing waste in your red bin by composting, transforming kitchen scraps and organic waste into food for your plants, and cultivating a healthier garden with worm farming.

Whether you are just starting out, or could use a refresher course, these enjoyable sessions will help you to hone your skills and make a positive impact on our environment.

Put it in your diary:

Composting workshops: Wednesday 4 October, and Saturday 7 October 2023 (9:00 am – 11:00 am). Delve into the art and science of composting and discover the magic of nature’s recycling system! You’ll learn how to balance carbon and nitrogen ratios, create optimal composting conditions, troubleshoot common issues, and turn your organic waste into ‘black gold’ for your garden.

Worm Farming workshops: Wednesday 27 September, and Saturday 14 October 2023 (9:00 am – 11:00 am). An enjoyable introduction to getting a thriving worm farm underway and boosting the fertility of your soil, for beginners and seasoned enthusiasts.

Be ready to roll-up your sleeves for hands-on experience with the experts who will walk you through worm selection and feeding and harvesting techniques to maximise productivity. It’s a great opportunity to connect with like-minded community members around sustainable gardening.

Depending on which workshop you attend, you’ll receive a free worm farm or a free compost bin, limited to one per household. Spaces are limited, so be sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible.
