For family fun with real community spirit, enjoy Australia Day 2024 in charming Berrima Village.

Share in welcoming 32 new residents to our Shire at the 9:30am Citizenship Ceremony in Market Place Park, where Wingecarribee’s Young Citizen and Citizen of the Year will be announced.

Hear from our Australia Day Ambassador Robina Beard, an Aussie icon who became a household name as Madge the Manicurist in a Palmolive Dishwashing Liquid television commercial, and was awarded an Australian Dance Award for Lifetime Achievement, as one of our country’s most recognised dance and performing artists.

“In the true community spirit of Australia Day in Berrima Village, we are thrilled to host an Australia Day Ambassador who holds a special place in the memories of a generation of Australians and has continued to invest her creative talents in giving-back to Australian culture and community,” says Wingecarribee Shire Council General Manager, Lisa Miscamble.

Robina will take part in the Grand Parade through Berrima Village at 12 noon, where you can cheer on more than 14 community groups marching in the parade, including the First Australian Light Horse Brigade. Rolling into town will be a colourful collection of around 40 classic vehicles, from the Old Machinery Club, Moss Vale Vintage Car Club, and Berrima District Historic Vehicle Club, along with a number of privately owned vehicles.

To make way for the parade, there will be street closures, so plan your visit. Find details here.

Bringing a live music vibe to the heritage streets of Berrima will be roaming performances by Shardee and Friends, and saxophone player Rochelle Bootsy.

From 9am until 3pm, there’ll be loads of family fun in Market Place Park. For the kids, there’ll be facepainting and temporary tattoos, an appearance from Piccolo Pony, and Cup & Saucer and Swingplane carnival rides.

Pack the picnic blanket and enjoy an afternoon of grazing on great local food and browsing 24 market stalls, with live music from Bong Bong Allstars between 1:15 and 3pm. Hampers will be available from nearby Peppergreen Estate and check out the many special offerings at local shops and eateries.

With something for everyone in a picturesque, heritage setting, Berrima Village is the place to be on Australia Day, January 26, 2024.
