Wingecarribee Shire Council has this week launched an all new sports field status link to its new look website.

Council’s Parks and Open Spaces Coordinator, Greg Bray said the online notification would provide parents and sporting clubs immediate notification of local ground availability.

“When the Shire is hit by prolonged periods of rain, the availability of our sports fields is one of the most asked questions from the community,” he said.

“The addition of the this new sports field status icon will help us to better inform local clubs, players, the media and parents of the status of Council managed grounds in a more timely manner.”

Wet weather conditions affecting play on Council’s 23 managed sports fields will be displayed as OPEN, CLOSED or RESTRICTIONS.

A field which has been classified as having RESTRICTIONS will have ground specific conditions relating to the availability of that field listed.

For further information on ground specific restrictions contact your local sporting group.

“As per previous announcements, the availability of sports fields will be made in consultation with local sporting clubs and any decisions will be made as close to weekend play as possible.”
