Bushfire Recovery and Resilience Grants now open
Wingecarribee Shire Council in partnership with the NSW Government has launched a Bushfire Community Recovery Small Grants Program to support local communities recovering from the 2019/20 bushfires.
Grants of up to $10,000 are available to assist not-for-profit organisations and associations across the Southern Highlands.
Council’s Group Manager of Corporate and Community, Danielle Lidgard, said the grants program aimed to support and strengthen the long-term health and wellbeing of bushfire impacted communities.
“We believe that programs which are instigated and led by impacted residents and community groups will have a greater uptake and more positive influence for the community,” Ms Lidgard said.
“The losses our bushfire impacted residents and communities have experienced can only truly be appreciated by someone that has walked in their shoes.”
Key projects to be supported by the Bushfire Community Recovery Small Grants Program include programs and initiatives that seek to improve health and wellbeing, strengthen community resilience and provide greater opportunities for community connection.
A total of $85,000 in grant monies has been allocated under the scheme for Highlands-based applications of between $2,000 and $10,000.

Applications close at midnight on Wednesday 17 March 2021.
