Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling on owners of heritage properties to apply for funding as part of this year’s Wingecarribee Heritage Assistance Grants Scheme.

Council’s Heritage Strategic Land Use Planner Sarah Farnese said the grants scheme aimed to preserve and protect our Shire’s significant historical places.

“The Southern Highlands contain some of the most beautiful and interesting heritage buildings in the State,” she said.

“These buildings and properties are rich in history and are admired by locals and visitors alike.”

“However maintaining a privately-owned heritage-listed property can be a costly exercise and this scheme is designed to provide some financial relief to these owners.”

Under the 2019/20 Wingecarribee Heritage Assistance Grants Scheme owners of heritage items, properties of heritage significance or properties located within the Shire’s heritage conservation areas can apply for funding.

Grants are offered on a dollar-for-dollar basis and range from $500 to $5000.

All works submitted for funding assistance are required to be completed by 31 March 2020.

“This scheme will help protect and preserve our Shire’s much-loved heritage buildings so they can be enjoyed for years to come,” Ms Farnese added.

“We encourage all eligible property owners to apply before the closing date.”

Applications for the Wingecarribee Heritage Assistance Grants Scheme must be submitted via the SmartyGrants online portal by midday Monday 16 September 2019.  Applicants will be notified of their eligibility following the close of submissions.
