With the weather warming up, Wingecarribee Shire Council is offering free swim classes in time for the summer season for adult swimmers looking to improve their technique.

“Swimming is a fantastic way to get outside, get fit and enjoy our Highlands summer,” said Tannia Andrews, Council’s Pools and Facilities Supervisor.

“The Swim4Fitness program we’re offering is for adult swimmers who want to sharpen their skills and learn how to get the most out of their swim sessions.”

Swim programs will be tailored for slow-medium and fast swimmers with dedicated lanes set aside for each group.

All classes are free of charge and will be held over the summer swim season at the Bowral Swimming Centre. Class times are as follows:

  • Tuesday mornings – 6.15am to 7.00am,
  • Wednesday evenings – 6.00pm to 6.45pm, and
  • Saturday mornings – 9.30am to 10.15am

Swim sessions will be supervised by qualified Austswim instructors.

One-on-one personalised lessons with instructors can also be booked through the Bowral Swimming Centre at a cost of $20 per half hour session.

“Novice, intermediate and experienced swimmers are all welcome to attend,” Ms Andrews said. “And apart from gaining some swim tips, we’re confident participants will meet some like-minded new friends.”
