Wingecarribee Shire Council is reminding residents to have their say on Council’s draft Operational Plan and Budget before the close of the exhibition period.

Council’s General Manager Ann Prendergast explained that the draft 2019/20 Operational Plan and Budget included all the road works, building repairs, bridge renewals, footpath, drainage and stormwater construction activities that Council has committed to undertaking in the coming year.

“It also details some major infrastructure improvement projects we’ll be carrying out including major upgrades to our sewage treatment plants, preliminary scoping on the proposed Regional Sports Hub in Moss Vale and a funding strategy for the operation of a Regional Art Gallery in Bowral,” Ms Prendergast said.

“The support of an Art Gallery is particularly unique to this year’s Operational Plan and Budget,” the General Manager said.

Late last year Councillors gave in-principle support to enable such a public facility and this document shows how and where Council will source the $2.5 million needed to ensure this eventuates.

“Included in our funding strategy is a proposal to raise half a million dollars each year over the next five years,” Ms Prendergast said.  “However this means that some services will have to be reviewed in order to achieve this.”

”We understand that such a proposal may cause apprehension which is why we have included full fact sheets on our website.

“These factsheets provide greater detail on the proposed funding strategy and the impact this will have on current Council services.”

The factsheets and draft Plans can be accessed at www.yoursaywingecarribee.com.au or at Council’s Moss Vale Civic Centre and at Council’s libraries

“Council’s annual Operational Plan and Budget is of Shire-wide importance and I encourage all interested residents to read our plans and comment on our proposed actions and allocations before the close of the exhibition period.”

The draft 2019/20 Operational Plan and Budget, which includes Council’s proposed Fees and Charges, is on public exhibition until Monday 27 May 2019.

Feedback and submissions can be made via:

PO Box 141

Moss Vale NSW 2577

Submissions and feedback close at midnight on Monday 27 May 2019.

Following the close of the exhibition period, a final report considering submissions will be presented to Council.
