Wingecarribee Shire Council is reminding residents of East Bowral they have until the 30 September to have a say in the future improvements of their neighbourhood.

Council’s General Manager, Jason Gordon said residents still had time to nominate their preferences for projects as part of monies collected from Section 94 Developer Contributions.

“We’d like to thank the residents of East Bowral who attended the public meeting earlier in the month but remind those who couldn’t attend they still have an opportunity to have their say.

“Residents can still log on to the dedicated website until the 30 September and view the 17 short-listed projects and vote on their preferences of where they’d like to see these funds spent,” Mr Gordon said.

Developer contributions can be used to make improvements to infrastructure which benefit the wider community and are traditionally used for projects such as playgrounds, community centres, footpaths and other infrastructure.

“We received some really positive feedback from the public meeting that we hosted and our online facility is a great opportunity for residents that weren’t able to attend to still have a say,” the General Manager said.

Residents can also view Council’s online Budget Allocator which helps users see how much their preferences will cost and help decide and prioritise where they’d like to see the $700,000 spent.

Updates of the results will be posted on the web site at regular intervals which will enable residents to track which projects are receiving higher support than others.

“The online facility really is a great tool for all residents – young or old – to have a say on how their neighbourhood will look in the years ahead.”

Voting on preferences closes Friday 30 September 2011.
