Wingecarribee Shire Council officers will be back on the road this month, visiting the residents of Robertson and surrounds on Wednesday 17 October as part of a mobile roadshow.

Council’s General Manager Jason Gordon said the information kiosks are an opportunity for residents to ask questions of Council without having to visit the Moss Vale Civic Centre.

“Staff from numerous departments will be on hand to answer questions and promote a range of Council services in an informal environment. Engineers, planners, rangers and customer and community service officers will be in attendance to answer any specific Council-related queries residents may have.”

The idea of the one-stop-shop was developed from community feedback received during preparation of the long-term community plan for the Southern Highlands Wingecarribee 2031+.

“This initiative is a direct response from residents who told us they wanted Council to be more actively involved in the community. We introduced the information kiosk concept to become more accessible and visible to the public.

“We have been visiting a town or village in the Shire each month and in 2011 met with residents in Bundanoon, Burrawang, Balmoral, Canyonleigh and Mittagong. This year we’ve already been out to Wingello, Colo Vale, Avoca, Exeter, Berrima, Yerrinbool and Kangaloon,” Mr Gordon said.

The Robertson Information Kiosk will be held at Robertson Bowling Club on Wednesday 17 October from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

Councillors have been invited to attend from 5pm. Residents are welcome to drop in during the kiosk hours but are encouraged to RSVP prior by calling (02) 4868 0761 to ensure appropriate Council staff are on hand to answer their queries.

The final Information Kiosk for 2012 has been scheduled for the Wombeyan Caves Road area on 21 November 2012 with dates for next year’s kiosk locations to be finalised shortly.
