Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling on residents of the northern villages of the Shire to conserve water in a bid to ensure supply is prioritised for firefighting efforts.

Residents in and surrounding the villages of Hill Top, Colo Vale, Yerrinbool, Aylmerton and Alpine are all being urged to conserve water as the continuing need for water to combat the ongoing bushfires places a strain on Council’s water reservoirs.

“We’re asking everyone in the northern villages to help out by conserving water until the bushfire crisis has subsided,” said Wingecarribee Shire Council General Manager, Jason Gordon.

“Right now we want to help the teams of RFS volunteers who are on the ground battling the blaze and this is one way everyone can help out to ensure they have all the resources they need.”

Water tankers are being organised to assist in topping up water reservoirs.
