Wingecarribee Shire Council has brought forward the opening of the Bowral Swimming Centre with the facility opening at 3.00pm on Wednesday 30 October.

Gates were originally due to open on Saturday 9 November however staff have fast-tracked the pool’s official opening in the wake of the closure of nearby Mittagong Swimming Centre.

Council’s Manager of Open Space, Recreation and Building Maintenance, Greg Bray thanked swimmers for their patience.

“We know a lot of swimmers love our Mittagong Swimming Centre,” he said.

“We appreciate their understanding and support while we go about addressing the issue of the plant failure at Mittagong which occurred less than a fortnight after its opening.”

The Mittagong Swimming Centre remains temporarily closed as staff and contractors resolve a plant failure in the balance tank of the facility.

“We hope this early opening of our Bowral Swimming Centre will help minimise any inconvenience.”

Council’s Bundanoon Swimming Centre will also open on Saturday 16 November 2019.

The Moss Vale War Memorial Aquatic Centre remains open year round.

Operating hours for the Bowral Swimming Centre are 6am to 6pm Monday to Friday.  On Saturdays the pool will open at 8.30am and close at 6pm while on Sunday the gates will open from 9.30am and close at 6pm.

The Bowral Swimming Centre is located at 152 Mittagong Road, Bowral.
