Notice of Interim Heritage Orders No. 14 and 15 48-50 Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, and 2 Pioneer Street, Mittagong

Wingecarribee Shire Council has recently made two Interim Heritage Orders over sites in Mittagong. Both Interim Heritage Orders were published in the NSW Government Gazette on Friday 23 February 2024 and became effective on that date. The properties affected by these Orders are:

  • 48-50 Old Hume Highway, Mittagong, known as ‘Murrabrine’ (Lot 4 DP 876468)—Interim Heritage Order No. 14.
  • 2 Pioneer Street, Mittagong (Part Lot 222 Sec U DP 20)—Interim Heritage Order No. 15.

The Interim Heritage Orders were made under Council’s delegation under the NSW Heritage Act 1977, and they are initially valid for six (6) months with an extension for a further six (6) months if Council makes a resolution to include them in its heritage schedule within the initial six (6) months. Both properties were assessed as being of heritage significance and recommended for heritage listing as part of the Draft Wingecarribee Community Heritage Study 2021-23. The Interim Heritage Orders will be reported to the Local Planning Panel and Council within the next six (6) months.
