Commencement of Storm Water Drainage Works at Garrett Street, Moss Vale

27 February, 2024

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise the community that as a part of its scheduled Works Program, Stormwater Drainage Work along the northern side of Garrett Street from Lackey Road to Innes Road, in Moss Vale, including within property 8A Garrett Street, is tentatively scheduled to commence from the week of 4 March 2024.

The works will include:

  • Excavation Works
  • Renewal of storm water drainage system including pits
  • Decommission of existing pits and pipes
  • Backfilling and sealing the excavated areas
  • Minor vegetation clearing

Weather permitting the work should be completed by the end of April 2024.

Due to the nature of the work and to allow the project to proceed safely and with minimum of disruptions, it is advised that one lane of Garrett Street between Innes Road and Lackey Road will be closed during the construction period.

The closure has been planned to be done in two phases – closure of school bound lane during the first 4 weeks followed by closure of Moss Vale bound lane for 4 weeks. Garrett Street will remain as one lane/one way road during this period as shown in the enclosed plans.

There may be minor delays due to the work, and some access to your property may be affected due to the work.  Minor adjustments to the traffic management plan may be required due to unavoidable site conditions.

Signage will be erected and traffic controllers will be stationed onsite as required, to manage traffic during the works.   Motorists are advised to follow the necessary detours provided, and are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Road users and pedestrians are advised to adhere to the changed traffic conditions, exercise care when traveling through the work zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.

Council asks for your patience during this construction period and will make all efforts to minimise disruptions. If you have any concerns regarding this matter, please contact Council’s Project Engineer Romi Malla on 02 4868 0570 or romi.malla@wsc.nsw.gov.au
