Bridge construction & closure of Colo St, Mittagong

2 September, 2016

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that on Monday 19 September 2016 works are scheduled to commence on the replacement of the Colo Street Bridge over Nattai Creek in Mittagong.

The works will involve the demolition of the existing timber bridge followed by the construction of a new concrete bridge and reconstruction of the bitumen sealed road.  A new concrete footpath will also be built across the bridge.

As a result of the works, Colo Street will be closed at the worksite to both motorists and pedestrians until February 2017.

A detour for motorists and pedestrians will be installed on the northern side via Southey Street, Bong Bong Road and Ferguson Crescent.  An alternative detour will also be available on the southern side via Southey Street, Webb Street and Range Road.

Signage will be erected advising motorists of the changes.

Immediate residents, emergency services and local bus companies have all been informed of the temporary closure.

Road users are cautioned to follow the changed traffic conditions and be aware of heavy machinery within the area.

Council thanks motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologises for any delays or inconvenience.
