Wingecarribee Heritage Award winners announced
Winners of the 2013 Wingecarribee Heritage Awards were announced at a ceremony at the Prince Albert Inn, Braemar on Friday the 3 May.
Exeter Cottage, the Mali Brae Farm in Moss Vale, ‘The Rift’ and Coach House in Bowral, and ‘Woodside’ in Moss Vale all received top gongs in their respective categories with Bradman’s Cottage in Bowral taking out overall winner.
The Everything Store in Sutton Forest was also Highly Commended in its category.
Council’s Heritage Land Use Planner, Sarah Farnese said the biennial awards were an opportunity to recognise the craftsmanship of traditional tradespersons and promote heritage conservation in the Wingecarribee Shire.
“Today’s results are spread over several categories including conservation works, restorations and additions,” she said.
Categories included:
- Sensitive Infill Building,
- Conservation Projects Over $250,000,
- Restoration & Additions (Residential),
- Restoration & Additions (Non-Residential), and
- Overall Heritage Winner
“The aim of the Wingecarribee Heritage Awards is to promote superior design solutions that ensure that the significant qualities of our heritage buildings and heritage conservation areas are maintained and enhanced.”
Ms Farnese congratulated all participants citing the high quality of projects, standard of workmanship and adherence to heritage principles.
“Not only do these awards serve to recognise and encourage excellence in design, they also help to promote and remind us of the wonderful heritage buildings that are located throughout the Southern Highlands,” she said.
The Wingecarribee Heritage Awards are held every two years and are coordinated through Council’s Heritage Advisory Working Group.

CONSERVATION (OVER $250,000)
Winner: ‘Woodside’ Farnborough Drive, Moss Vale
Highly Commended: The Everything Store Illawarra Highway, Sutton Forest
RESTORATION & ADDITIONS (RESIDENTIAL)
Winner: ‘The Rift’ and Coach House, Carlisle Street, Bowral
