Council’s popular giant inflatable pool toy is set to surface for the opening of Bowral Swimming Centre this Saturday 4 October.

Weather permitting the wet and wild Family Fun Day will kick off at 11.00am before finishing at 3.00pm.

All children under 11 years of age must be directly supervised by a responsible guardian 16 years of age or over and non-swimmers must identify themselves to the lifeguard and be partnered with an appropriate person.

Bowral is the first of Council’s outdoor public swimming pools to open for the 2014/15 swim season. Bundanoon Swimming Pool will follow suit on 15 November 2014 whilst the Moss Vale War Memorial Aquatic Centre remains open year round.

Bowral Swimming Centre’s normal hours of operation during school term are:

  • Monday – 6am to 8pm (50m pool closed to public from 6pm for Water Polo)
  • Tuesday – 6am to 8pm (50m pool closed to public from 5pm for Water Polo)
  • Wednesday – 6am to 7pm
  • Thursday – 6am to 8pm (50m pool closed to public from 7pm for Water Polo)
  • Friday – 6am to 6pm
  • Saturday – 8am to 6pm
  • Sunday – 9am to 6pm
  • Public Holidays – 10am to 6pm

In the event of inclement weather swimmers should be aware that pools may close an hour early. If the forecast temperature is greater than 35 degrees the pool’s weekend hours will be extended until 7pm.

Bowral Swimming Pool’s opening date and hours of operation have been brought forward to compensate for Mittagong Swimming Pool being closed for the season as it undergoes a total refurbishment.

All games, competitions and pool toy activities during the Family Fun Day will be included in the regular pool admission cost.

With all of Council’s pools heated to 24 degrees, the Whale Tail is expected to make a number of return visits to the Shire’s public pools.

Bowral Swimming Centre is located at the corner of Mittagong Road and Oxley Drive, Bowral.
