Voluntary Planning Agreement with Frensham offers swimmers greater choice

Wingecarribee Shire Council General Manager Jason Gordon has this week clarified claims that Council’s Voluntary Planning Agreement with Frensham School regarding its proposed indoor swimming pool would jeopardize the viability of the Shire’s Council operated swimming facilities.

“The Voluntary Planning Agreement with Frensham simply formalizes public access to use their proposed pool,” Mr Gordon said.

“It’s an agreement between Frensham and Council which stipulates how and when the general public could utilize their swimming facility.”

“Within the agreement are mechanisms for future review to ensure both parties are happy with the arrangements.”

“This Voluntary Planning Agreement with Frensham is an example of Council working together with one of our valued community members to negotiate an arrangement that will benefit the entire Shire,” Mr Gordon added.

“And we think the more options our Shire’s swimmers have to pursue their sport, regardless of Council’s current or future swimming facilities, the better.”
