Temporary closure of Stephens Park

18 January, 2019

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that the sports playing fields at Stephens Park in Bowral will be temporarily closed from 28 January 2019.

The temporary closure is to allow Council staff to undertake drainage works, top-dressing and rehabilitation works to the playing fields and car park. At the same time, Highlands District Cricket Association will install a concrete cricket pitch.

During the closure, temporary fencing will be erected around the fields.

Following the completion of the works in late February, the fields will initially re-open for passive use only.

Staff will continue to water, fertilise, top dress and repair the worn playing surface.  During this period the fields will re-open for restricted passive use only.  Games, training and events will be temporarily suspended until the rehabilitation works have been established.

The works are being carried out over the summer months to maximise growth and ensure the fields are in peak condition for the forthcoming winter sports competitions.

Council thanks nearby residents and park users in advance for their cooperation and apologises for any temporary inconvenience.

Both the initial works and subsequent rehabilitation and regrowth period are expected to be complete by mid-May 2019.  All timeframes are subject to weather conditions.

Stephens Park is located on Derby Street in Bowral.
