Temporary closure of Braemar Avenue

6 February, 2020

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise of the temporary closure of Braemar Avenue in Braemar effective Friday 7 February to Monday 10 February 2020.

The decision to temporary close Braemar Avenue has been made in lieu of the forecast heavy rain.

Council is currently undertaking stormwater improvements in Braemar Avenue and a temporary ‘side-track’ has been constructed allowing traffic to move around the immediate work area.

Council has carefully considered the risks associated with the imminent forecast rain and has decided to temporarily close the road at the creek crossing and subsequent side-track.

The decision to close the road was made in the interests of public safety.

Should the weather not improve as per forecast conditions, this temporary closure may be extended beyond Monday 10 February without notice.

A detour is available for all vehicles through Willow Vale via Swan Street, Railway Terrace, Willow Street, Orient Street and Drapers Road.

Council is aware that Braemar Avenue is an important route for the Braemar industrial area, local residents and businesses and is working to have the side-track re-opened as soon as conditions improve.  We apologise for the temporary delay and inconvenience caused to motorists and residents.

Works are expected to be completed by March 2020.
