Stormwater upgrades – Cook & Lyell Streets, Mittagong

8 March, 2017

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that as a part of its capital works program, stormwater drainage upgrade works are scheduled to commence along Cook and Lyell Streets in Mittagong on Monday 13 March 2017.

Works will involve the construction of new stormwater drainage pipework and stormwater pits.

Works will be undertaken in two stages.  Work along Cook Street – between Elizabeth and Lyell Streets – will be undertaken first.  The second stage involves work along Lyell Street.

During construction all efforts will be made to keep the road open to traffic however some minor delays are expected.  At times minor detours may be necessary to allow the work to proceed safely.  The road will however remain open to immediate residents and bus operators.  Where possible, motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Signage will be erected and traffic controllers will be stationed on site to manage traffic during the works.

Road users and pedestrians are advised to adhere to the changed traffic conditions, exercise care when traveling through the work zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.

Council thanks motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologise for any temporary delays or inconvenience.

The Cook Street works are scheduled to be completed by 30 June 2017.  Work on Lyell Street will commence immediately thereafter.  All time frames are subject to weather conditions.
