Roadside drainage rehabilitation scheduled for Canyonleigh Road

16 January, 2012

Wingecarribee Shire Council crews have commenced roadside preparation works in advance of planned pavement rehabilitation works along Canyonleigh Road between the Hume Highway and Foxgrove Road, Canyonleigh.

The preparations work will involve excavating blocked drains, clearing excess grass and vegetation in and around the table drains and on the edge of the pavement, and adding extra shoulder gravel to address any steep drop-offs. These works are anticipated to be completed within three weeks.

This will be followed by physical pavement rehabilitation works which are scheduled to commence the week starting 6 February, with contractors Downer Australia appointed by Council to undertake the work.

The pavement rehabilitation involves recycling the existing gravel surface by blending lime and cement to create a new pavement. This is followed by placing an additional 100mm of gravel overlay and bitumen sealing.

In total four kilometres of Canyonleigh Road will be rehabilitated.

Motorists are cautioned to follow the changed traffic conditions, exercise care when traveling through the work zones and be aware of heavy machinery within the work areas.

Weather permitting, the contract works are expected to be completed in approximately 10 weeks.

Council apologises for any delays or inconvenience.
