Planned shutdown of Oxley Drive reservoir, Bowral

13 April, 2012

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that it will be conducting essential upgrades to the Oxley Drive reservoirs in Bowral on the Thursday 19 April.

The temporary disruption is necessary in order for contract staff to install pressure management equipment, similar to the equipment which was recently installed in the Moss Vale and Exeter reservoirs, which is designed to regulate and monitor water flows.

Although unlikely, residents in the immediate vicinity of the Oxley Drive reservoirs, may experience temporary discolouration of water, excess air in the water (distinguished by a ‘cloudy’ or ‘milky’ appearance), lack of water pressure or temporary loss of supply.

This work is scheduled to begin at 8.00am on Thursday 19 April and take approximately five hours to complete.

Once water supply is returned, it is recommended a cold water tap is slowly turned on to allow any trapped air to escape.

If the water is discoloured on reconnection, run the tap at full flow until cleared.

Care should be taken to ensure hot water heaters and washing machines are NOT used and taps are turned off during this scheduled interruption of water supply.

Council apologises for any inconvenience.
