Mayor and General Manager refute media statement
Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Ken Halstead and General Manager Ann Prendergast have today dismissed a statement reported this week on a local radio website describing their working relationship.
“I have respect for Ms Prendergast in her role and Council’s Deputy General Managers,” Councillor Halstead said.
“It’s not uncommon from time to time to have differing opinions,” the Mayor continued.
“When this does occur, we work together for the betterment of our Shire and its residents.
“And while I continue to demand accountability from all staff, I can unequivocally say that I did not make any statements regarding our working relationships.”
Ms Prendergast agreed with the Mayor’s sentiments.
“The relationship between the Mayor, myself and senior staff of Council has always been, and continues to remain, professional, courteous and constructive,” she said.
