Lead removal works slated for Bowral Memorial Hall

5 August, 2021

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that specialist contractors are scheduled to undertake lead removal works on Bowral Memorial Hall starting Monday 9 August 2021.

The works will be undertaken by contractor’s Belmadar Pty Ltd after lead dust was found in the ceiling cavity of the 137-year old building.

Lead was commonly used in a variety of building applications throughout Australia, particularly paint products, as recent as the early-1970’s.

The affected area will be cordoned off from the public with the contractors to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.  All removal works will be undertaken in accordance with SafeWork NSW practices.

The removal works are expected to take approximately four weeks to complete.

The installation of a new roof is one of the key construction activities of the $6.5 million refurbishment of Bowral Memorial Hall.

The refurbishment project is anticipated to be completed by late 2022.
