Bowral southern entrance land rezoned

7 April, 2014

Late last week the Land and Environment Court granted a request by DeAngelis to vacate the hearing which was scheduled to commence today, Monday 7 April, on site of the proposed development site (Gardens R Us).

The postponement, at the request of the applicant to consider their future options, coincides with Wingecarribee Shire Council advising of an amendment to the Wingecarribee Local Environmental Plan (WLEP) 2010 as of 28 March 2014.

The amendment sees the planning controls over land at the southern entrance to Bowral – bounded by Moss Vale Road, Bowral Street and Holmhale Street – rezoned from B4 Mixed Use land to R3 Medium Density Residential land.

Lot sizes within the specified area have been set at a minimum of 700 square metres as a result of the amendment. In addition, the previous height of building and floor space ratio standards has also been removed.

The changes follow community consultation on the rezoning and a resolution of Council from the 27 November to proceed with the planning proposal.

The matter is now listed for directions hearing on 17 April 2014.

Council will issue further information following this hearing.
