Improvement works scheduled for Old Hume Highway

10 January, 2022

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that road safety improvement works will be undertaken on the Old Hume Highway between Berrima and Bowral starting at the end of January 2022.

Improvement works will involve the removal of roadside vegetation, excavation and widening of the existing road shoulder and installation of guard rails and tactile line markers.

The works will be undertaken in three stages starting at the northern section of the Old Hume Highway and the intersection of the Hume Motorway.  Works will progress south and conclude at the intersection of the highway and Greenhills Road in Berrima.

During these works some sections of the Old Hume Highway may be temporarily reduced to one-way traffic, however, the highway will remain open.

Road users are cautioned to follow the changed traffic conditions, exercise care when traveling through the work zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.

Council thanks motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologises for any temporary delays or inconvenience.

Road works are expected to be completed by May 2022.

Funding for the project is provided via the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program.
