Geotechnical investigations to commence in Bowral and Mittagong

24 May, 2021

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that geotechnical investigations are scheduled to commence on Retford Road in Bowral from Tuesday 25 May 2021.

Borehole drilling will be carried out by contractors Durkin Construction Pty Ltd to sample the soil and rock beneath the road surface. This data will be used to assess the strength, capacity and longevity of the road.

Investigations will then move to Park Road, Ascot Road, Bowral Street, Sheffield Road and Bendooley Street in Bowral throughout late May and early June between 7am and 5pm weekdays.

Further drillings will be carried out in the evenings on the Old Hume Highway between Pioneer and Bessemer Streets in Mittagong from 6 June 2021.

Signage will be erected, and traffic controllers will be stationed onsite to manage traffic during the works.

Road users and pedestrians are cautioned to follow the changed traffic conditions, exercise care when travelling through the construction zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.

Council thanks residents and motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologises for any temporary delays or inconvenience.

Works are expected to be completed by mid-June 2021.  All timeframes are subject to weather conditions.
