Footpath, kerb and gutter work at Mittagong Playhouse

16 October, 2014

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that as a part of its capital works program, footpath, kerb and guttering works are scheduled to start in the vicinity of the Mittagong Playhouse located on the corner of the Old Hume Highway and Bowral Road, Mittagong.

The work will involve removing the existing asphalt footpath, upgrading kerbing, guttering and drainage and reinstating brick pavers on both footpaths adjacent to the Playhouse.

During the upgrade the existing heritage sandstone will be recovered, re-cut and re-laid as per its original design on a newly constructed reinforced concrete gutter.  The existing footpath will also be replaced with new concrete pavers.

The first stage of construction is scheduled to start on Monday 20 October.  Weather permitting this component is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.  Stage two will involve the re-construction of the footpath and will carry into the new year.

To allow works to proceed safely, some car parking spaces will be closed on both the northern side of Bowral Road and within the Main Street car park located immediately adjacent to the Playhouse.  Pedestrian access will also be limited during the footpath reconstruction.

Access to the Playhouse will not be affected.

Motorists and pedestrians travelling along Bowral Road and within the Main Street car park are reminded to exercise care when traveling through the work zone and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the area.

Council apologises for any delays or inconvenience.
