Councillors vote to continue work on Moss Vale Indoor Aquatic Centre
A rescission motion to amend the design of the proposed Moss Vale Indoor Aquatic Centre was last night defeated by a vote of five to four by Wingecarribee Shire Councillors.
The motion, put forward by Councillor Garry Turland, sought to halt works on the facility until further options had been explored.
Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Councillor Juliet Arkwright welcomed the decision to continue with the original Council resolution dated 13 June 2012.
“I think ultimately common sense has prevailed,” Councillor Arkwright said.
“I also think it would have been most unfortunate if the previous Council’s work had been undone had the rescission motion been passed.
“Now that the matter has again been debated and a majority decision reached, in the interests of the community, I hope the matter can finally be laid to rest,” she said.
“I also ask that all councillors now put their differences aside, get behind the project, and help deliver a first-class year round indoor aquatic facility for all of our Shire’s residents to enjoy.”
