Changed traffic conditions – Kirkham Road, Bowral

7 February, 2020

Wingecarribee Shire Council wishes to advise that road works are scheduled to commence on the southern section of Kirkham Road in Bowral from Tuesday 11 February 2020.

These works will include a full width rehabilitation of the road pavement, road widening and construction of a new roundabout at Sherwood Avenue.

Other works include the construction of new kerb and guttering, footpaths, installation of footpath lighting and the formalising of car spaces. During construction the existing stormwater pipes will also be relocated and new pipes and pits installed. The project will also be landscaped at the conclusion of construction activities.

During construction sections of on-street parking will be removed to allow the road to remain open. At times the two-way traffic lane may be temporarily reduced to one-way traffic for construction site establishment purposes. Traffic controllers will be stationed onsite during these changes and the road will remain open to through traffic.

On-street parking will not be available on sections of Kirkham Road during construction work. Local businesses have been informed in order to accommodate clients onsite or via side streets.
Construction activities will be carried out between 7.00am and 5.00pm weekdays.

Road users are cautioned to follow the changed traffic arrangements and exercise care when traveling through the work zones and be aware of loose stones and heavy machinery within the work areas.

Council thanks local residents, businesses and motorists in advance for their cooperation and apologises for any temporary delays or inconvenience.

Works are expected to be completed by June 2020. All timeframes are subject to weather conditions.

The Kirkham Road (South) Reconstruction Project will connect to the previous multi-million dollar reconstruction works undertaken by Council on the northern section of the road in 2019.
