To help residents dispose of excess Christmas waste, Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Moss Vale Resource Recovery Centre will remain open over the holiday period only closing for the public holidays.
The Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) will close on Saturday 24 December at 12 noon and remain closed for the Christmas and Boxing Day public holidays on 25 and 26 December.
The facility will reopen on Tuesday 27 December and be open between Tuesday 27 December and Saturday 31 December, but close for the New Year’s Day public holiday on Sunday 1 January 2023.
Normal operating hours will resume from 8 am on Monday 2 January 2023.
Customers visiting the RRC are reminded to arrive no later than 20 minutes prior to the close of gates to allow staff to safely secure the facility at the designated time.
Council’s Manager Waste and Resource Recovery, Mr Clinton McAlister, said kerbside collection services will continue as per normal collections days.
“Staff and contractors will still be collecting kerbside bins on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day,” he said.
“However, to allow our staff to also enjoy the public holidays, drivers will be leaving a little bit earlier than normal.
“We’re therefore asking residents who would normally have their bins collected on these days to ensure their bins are out on the kerbside from 11 pm the evening before,” Mr McAlister said.
Council will also undertake weekly collections of yellow recycling waste bins from 19 December 2022 through until 13 January 2023 to help residents cope with the extra recyclable waste generated over the holiday period.
Customers are reminded that the Resource Recovery Centre also accepts paper wrapping, cardboard and polystyrene packaging free of charge.
“Remember too that our second annual bulky waste kerbside collection service commences from 30 January 2023,” Mr McAlister added.
The Resource Recovery Centre is located at 177 Berrima Road, Moss Vale.
