Rennie’s at Renwick – just what you ordered
So much more than just a café, Rennie’s at Renwick will be just what residents ordered – a community hub where people can connect, with creative activations to look forward to.
We knew we’d found an operator who would harmonise with the community of Renwick when Damian Leonard shared his passion for bringing people together with curated food, music and outdoor events.
“Place-making is what I do best,” Damian says. “Many years of coming up with new events and experiences for Sydney Olympic Park has given me a good instinct for how we can give Renwick residents a gathering place that’s something really special, with Rennies.”
“Starting with a coffee pop-up at the site is an opportunity for us to get to know the locals and test the waters with what they’re looking for from the venue, while we’re still in the formulating stage.”
The big ideas that have been best received by residents include activating the community hall and parklands beside the café, for pop-up dinners and music workshops.
“Council connected me with the residents’ association who are keen for creative collaboration around events like Halloween, and we already have some regulars who’ve been very excited to share in what we plan to bring to their neighbourhood.”
By the end of January, locals can look forward to Rennie’s adding a more substantial selection to the current offering of seriously good coffee and cold drinks. “We’re aiming for our full fit-out and menus to be up and running by mid-year and we’ll have some really fun activations in store from that point on.”
