In the lead up to Road Rules Awareness Week, Wingecarribee Shire Council is urging local motorists to brush up on their road knowledge in a chance to win one of four fuel vouchers.

Council’s Road Safety Officer Melanie Lausz explained the concept of the promotion.

“Many drivers learn the road rules when it’s time to get their licence,” she said.  “But how many motorists keep abreast of rule changes?”

To be held from Monday 23 to Friday 27 February, Road Rules Awareness Week encourages all road users to refresh their skills.

“Perhaps you’re unsure as to what the speeds are around school zones or who has right of way at a roundabout?” Ms Lausz said.

“Whatever the query, the Roads and Maritime Services will be only too happy to help.”

Transport for NSW has subsequently released a web link clarifying the ten most misunderstood road rules which can be viewed at www.roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/campaigns/roadrules.html.

“Importantly, road rules apply to all road users including motorists, cyclists and pedestrians,” Ms Lausz added.

To go into the draw to win one of four $50 fuel vouchers road users must rate their road rules knowledge via Council’s short online quiz at www.surveymonkey.com/s/rateyourroadrules.

Competition closes 5pm Thursday 5 March 2015.

“By taking a few moments to refresh your skills and rate your road rules you might even save a life!”
