Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling on nominations for the 2013 Wingecarribee Heritage awards.

Council’s Heritage Land Use Planner explained the significance of the awards.

“The Wingecarribee Heritage Awards are only conducted every two years,” said Sarah Farnese. “And this year they hold extra significance as they’re being held during Bowral and Moss Vale’s Sesquicentenary anniversary.”

Nominations are open in five categories including Conservation, Restoration and Additions, Traditional Tradespersons, Sensitive Infill Building and an Overall Winner award being presented for the best project from all categories.

“The Southern Highlands contain some of the most beautiful heritage buildings across the state,” said Ms Farnese.

“Council encourages residents and businesses alike to nominate for these awards as they are the perfect opportunity to recognise the talented trades people and their skills that go into preserving these remarkable buildings which help make our Shire so unique.”

Nominations for the Wingecarribee Heritage Awards close Friday 8 March 2013.

Guidelines, criteria and nomination forms can be found on Council’s website at: www.wsc.nsw.gov.au or from Council’s Moss Vale Civic Centre located in Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale.
