Wingecarribee Shire Mayor Councillor Duncan Gair has today launched Council’s annual Christmas Giving Tree Appeal.

“With the festive season just weeks away, we’re asking residents to share in the spirit of Christmas and donate to the less fortunate,” he said.

Speaking from the Civic Centre launch the Mayor said non-perishable food items and gifts for children are the most sought-after items.

“For a lot of people Christmas can be an especially tough time of the year,” he said.  “This year has been particularly challenging, and many families continue to struggle.”

“The only real restriction we ask is to not wrap the gifts.”

All items donated will be passed on to the local branch of the Salvation Army where they will be sorted before being distributed in time for Christmas Day.

“The size and monetary worth of the gift isn’t important,” Mayor Gair added.  “As the old adage goes; it’s the thought that counts.”

Gifts can be left by the tree up until and including Friday 18 December 2020.

The Giving Tree can be found in the foyer of Wingecarribee Shire Council’s relocated Customer Service Centre, located in Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale.
