Wingecarribee Shire Council will hold a series of information sessions starting Friday 1 May 2020 to discuss the draft Wingecarribee Local Housing Strategy and draft Wingecarribee Local Strategic Planning Statement.

Due to COVID-19, the one-on-one information sessions will be held by phone or video conferencing.

Council’s Coordinator Strategic Land Use Planning, Michael Park, explained that these draft documents help set the direction for future residential developments within the Wingecarribee Shire.

“A Local Housing Strategy will help overcome speculative driven proposals and instead provide a strategic framework for future planning proposals and residential housing releases,” Mr Park said.

“This will in turn provide greater clarity and certainty for our community about how and where we will manage growth into the future.”

Mr Park said the draft documents were in-line with the community’s vision and expectations on how our Shire’s future residential developments should be managed.

“A Local Housing Strategy and Local Strategic Planning Statement will determine what type of housing we need to provide and where, as well as provide a long-term planning framework for our economic, social and environmental needs” he said.  “It will also ensure a more cohesive and uniform approach is taken to future development across the Shire.”

To view the draft documents and register to attend an information session visit www.yoursaywingecarribee.com.au/submission or phone Council on 4868 0888.

Feedback can be made online or in writing addressed to Wingecarribee Shire Council, PO Box 141 Moss Vale 2577 or alternatively by email at mail@wsc.nsw.gov.au.

Submissions and feedback close at 4.30pm on Friday 15 May 2020.

Following the close of the exhibition period, a final report considering feedback will be presented to Council.
