Mittagong RSL will host the Shire’s inaugural Youth Summit this Thursday 28 July.

Supported by Wingecarribee Shire Council, the summit will tackle issues facing the Shire’s younger residents.

The event will feature presentations from local youth leaders, government and police.

Speaking at the summit will be the Federal Member for Throsby, Stephen Jones MP and the Hon Pru Goward MP, Member for Goulburn.

“The purpose of the summit is to explore the limitations faced by our Shire’s youth and work towards improving services and opportunities,” said Council’s Youth Liaison Facilitator, Michelle Williams.

“The outcomes from the summit will subsequently be used to shape possible future services for our Shire’s youth and the way in which they can play an active role in our community.”

The summit will also feature street art and drama workshops, event management seminars and discussion panels which will tackle issues of education, employment, demographic perceptions and developing connections with the broader community.

Youth service providers, carers, educators, employers and local youth aged between 14 and 24 are encouraged to attend.

The summit is FREE but space is limited so pre-registration is required.
