Wingecarribee Shire Council is encouraging bike riders to don their helmets and join the ninth annual BBT Family Fun Ride on Sunday 30 September 2018

The 9km ride along the Bong Bong Shared Pathway will begin at 10am from the southern end of Railway Road in Burradoo (past Oxley College).

Council’s Road Safety Officer, Melanie Lausz said the free event was a fun way for people to learn more about safe cycling and its benefits.

“Bike Week is an annual celebration of cycling, encouraging people from all walks of life from across the State to dust off their bikes and go for a ride,” she said.

“Not only is cycling a sustainable transport option, it’s also a great way to keep fit and experience some of the natural beauty that our region is renowned for.

“This year’s Family Fun Day is the perfect opportunity to gather the family and have a lovely ride alongside the beautiful Wingecarribee River.”

Everyone is welcome to attend, and if nine kilometres seems a bit too much, riders can turn around at any point on the track and return.

The day will also feature free face painting, a treasure hunt for the kids and a gold coin donation barbeque sausage sizzle with all proceeds going to Bicycles for Change.

In addition to a bike, participants need to bring their own helmet, wear covered shoes and pack some sunscreen and water.

The free 2018 Bong Bong Track (BBT) Bike Ride is proudly supported by Transport for NSW.

NSW Bike Week will run from Saturday 22 September to Sunday 30 September 2018.
