Wingecarribee Shire Council’s Customer Service Area will reopen to the public from Tuesday 9 June 2020.

Located within the Moss Vale Civic Centre, the Customer Service Area will be open to the public from 9am to 4pm weekdays for the foreseeable future.

Council’s General Manager Ann Prendergast said the reopening followed the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and the gradual reopening of public facilities in accordance with legal directives issued by the New South Wales State Government.

“Customers visiting our reopened Customer Service Area will notice some changes prior to the enforced shutdown in March,” she said.

“Central to these changes are the introduction of strict social distancing measures as stipulated by the State Government that must be maintained.”

“Consequently only 15 persons maximum will be permitted within the public area of Council’s Civic Centre with five persons at any one time at the Customer Services counter,” Ms Prendergast said.

Other measures to be introduced to comply with Government health requirements include the recording of contact details of visiting patrons in the event of community transmission.  Details will be kept for a period of 28 days after which times records will be destroyed.

Additional cleaning will also be maintained during public hours and personal sanitisation will be provided to ensure the safety of customers and staff.

Whilst the Customer Service Area was closed to the public for the past ten weeks, Council has continued to provide residents with phone and online access and maintained site inspection appointments, road construction activities, maintenance, water and sewer and rubbish collection and disposal services.

“We understand that during the shutdown many of our customers moved their face-to-face business online,” Ms Prendergast said.  “I would encourage our customers to continue to undertake their business either online via remote meetings or over the phone to help maintain social distancing wherever possible.”

“Our goal is to reopen and restart as many of our public services and facilities, as long as it is safe to do so, as soon as possible,” she said.

“The safety of all visitors to the Civic Centre and staff remains our top priority and I would ask that should anyone require a meeting with staff aside from the front counter, they phone Council in advance to make an appointment with the appropriate person.”

Another major change customers will notice on arrival are the renovations taking place across the Civic Centre.

“Council has used the shut-down to accelerate our building renovations and we remind visitors that the Civic Centre is an active construction site,” Ms Prendergast said.

Access to the Customer Service Area will be via the existing front entrance located on Elizabeth Street in Moss Vale.

“We understand these new social distancing measures and construction activities may cause temporary disruption,” Ms Prendergast added.  “While we look forward to welcoming visitors back to the Civic Centre we apologise in advance for any inconvenience or delay.”
