Dr. Rina Bruinsma, Deputy Coordinator General at the National Emergency Management Agency, visited last week to discuss the infrastructure and recovery needs of our Highlands community.

We chatted about the services currently available and discussed potential funding opportunities, such as the fit out of the proposed Emergency Operations Centre here at the Civic Centre.

Shortly after, Dr Bruinsma popped into the Social Recovery Subcommittee Meeting and heard about the social and economic challenges faced by local service providers such as Red Cross Australia, Habitat for Humanity, and the Rural Financial Counselling Service NSW.

It was an opportunity for Council and key stakeholders to showcase the great work we do and advocate for future funding.

Last stop on the itinerary was Hill Top Village Store to view the public art mural created by Sam Hall as part of Paint the Town Wingecarribee.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Shire, Dr Bruinsma!
