Wingecarribee Shire Council has announced it will trial new swim usage arrangements at its Mittagong Pool following positive discussions held this week with the newly elected Executive of Bowral Water Polo Club.

“We’re confident the new schedule will be able to accommodate our frequent visitors, regular lap users and the water polo users,” said Michelle Wright, Council’s Pools and Facilities Supervisor.

The trial arrangements to take effect at Mittagong Pool from Monday 7 November are as follows:

  • Monday-  Water Polo will set up in the 50m pool from 5.45p with play commencing at 6.00pm. Limited public access to the 50m pool from 5.45pm however the 25m pool will remain open until 8.00pm for full general public use.
  • Tuesday-  Water Polo will set up in the 50m pool from 5.15pm with play commencing at 5.30pm. No public access to the 50m pool from 5.15pm however the 25m pool will remain open until 8.00pm for full general public use.
  • Thursday- Water Polo training from 6.00am to 7.00am. Goals and nets to be positioned at the north western end of the pool to avoid interference with lap swimmers. Lap swimmers will have exclusive use of three designated lanes.
  • Sunday-  Water Polo to pay for exclusive use of the 50m pool from 8.45am to 9.45am. Pool open from 10.00am for full general public use.

“Council believes the decision to expand the pool’s opening hours will benefit all parties and we’re confident that these arrangements will allow the sport of water polo to continue to grow within our Shire,” said Ms Wright.

A decision on future usage times will be reviewed following the month long trial.
