Local Government NSW has this week announced Wingecarribee Shire Council as the host of the State’s 2015 Water Management Conference.

Speaking at the announcement of the annual NSW Local Government Water Management Conference (LGNSW) was Council’s Manager of Tourism and Events, Steve Rosa.

“Securing this conference is a great result for the region,” he said.

“In total almost 200 delegates from across the State will visit our Shire to speak about water security.”

“Apart from discussing the latest in water management, the conference will also provide us with a wonderful opportunity to showcase our Shire’s tourism potential and business opportunities,” Mr Rosa said.

Issues to be discussed at the conference include water catchment protection, challenges associated with water transfer schemes and the role councils play in providing water and sewerage services.

The conference will be held between the 24 and 26 August 2015 at Peppers Craigieburn Hotel in Bowral.

Wingecarribee Shire Mayor, Councillor Duncan Gair said the announcement was a wonderful coup for Council and the Shire.

“It’s also great recognition of the hard work that Council’s tourism and events unit – Destination Southern Highlands – put into the bid and will no doubt continue in the lead up to the conference,” he said.

“We look forward to welcoming the delegates and showcasing all that the Southern Highlands has to offer.”
