Wingecarribee Shire Council staff are asking the Shire’s residents to support them in their bid to raise funds for this year’s Movember campaign.

Led by a group of 11 staff members from Council’s Civic Centre – nicknamed The Dirty Dozen minus one – they are asking residents to join them in the growing of facial hair to help them reach their goal of $1000 by the month’s end.

Wingecarribee Shire Council General Manager said the group had the full support of management.

“This initiative came from the guys themselves and we all think it’s a fantastic idea,” he said.

Council’s Movember Team Captain Carwyn Sheppard said the fundraiser was an opportunity for the team members to let their hair down.

“We’re having a bit of fun with this in the hope we can raise some money for some very serious men’s health issues.

“Some of the events we’re hosting include holding staff barbeques and even auctioning off our very own Mr Movember calendar,” Capt’n Carwyn said.

All funds raised by Council’s Movember team will be donated to beyondblue and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

“We encourage all men of the Southern Highlands to join us as we

grow some serious soup-strainers and ask for all girlfriends, wives and partners to cut us some slack for the month and support us throughout Movember.”
