Wingecarribee Shire Council is seeking comments from the community on its newly drafted Development Notification Policy.

Entitled, “Community Engagement and Notification of Development and Planning Proposals”, the draft policy is proposed to supersede Council’s currently adopted neighbourhood notification policy.

The draft policy has been written to guide Council staff on when, why and how they notify development and planning proposals and how different types of applications are handled. This includes the types of things Council Officers will consider in making their assessments of what applications will be neighbour notified and how wide this notification should spread to.

The draft policy also deals with Council’s procedures for dealing with a submission and reintroduces advertising for some categories of developments. The draft policy suggests this should occur via newspapers advertisements and placing signage on the property in question.

A copy of the draft policy can be obtained from Council’s Moss Vale Civic centre or via Council’s website at:www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/development/whats-on-public-exhibition

The proposed policy will be on public exhibition until 31 December 2011. Submissions or comments can be made up until 9 January 2012.

Written submissions should be directed to:
