Wingecarribee Shire Council is gearing up for this year’s Seniors Festival with a variety of events being held from 3 to 12 March.

Events include a free seniors cycling workshop presented by Rideability Cycle Education.

Council’s Road Safety Officer Melanie Lausz explained that the workshop is perfect for seniors looking to brush up on their cycling skills.

“The workshop will focus on rider safety, skills, confidence and the benefits of cycling,” said Ms Lausz. “We’ll answer any questions participants may have and touch on current cycling laws and bike maintenance tips.”

The one hour Rideability Workshop will be held on Wednesday 8 March from 10.30am at Lake Alexandra in Mittagong.

Morning tea will be provided after the workshop.

Participants should be able to ride a bicycle without training aids and are asked to bring their own bike in good working condition along with a correctly fitted bicycle helmet. A limited number of bikes and helmets can be provided for those that don’t have their own.

“Autumn is the perfect season to rediscover the joys of bicycle riding,” said Ms Lausz. “And with stunning Highlands scenery at our doorstop there isn’t a better time to get on your bike.”

Bookings are essential as places are limited.
