Due to public interest Wingecarribee Shire Council is re-exhibiting the planning proposal which seeks to amend the Wingecarribee Local Environmental Plan 2010 (WLEP 2010) to permit a highway service centre and hotel and/or motel accommodation between 1 and 9 Church Avenue (Part of Lot 2 DP 1010179), Colo Vale.

Whilst originally placed on public exhibition throughout the month of October, Council has extended the Public Exhibition period for a further 28 days from the 12 November to 12 December 2014 to allow greater community input.

Land owners potentially affected by the proposal, including those from Colo Vale, Alpine, Yerrinbool, Hill Top and Balmoral will all receive written notification from Council of the re-exhibition extension.

Even though Council originally resolved to refuse the planning proposal, the proposal is now being reconsidered due to a review by the Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP) who believe the application has merit.

Council is subsequently seeking public comment on the proposal as part of the Gateway process.

Following the closure of the second re-exhibition period in mid-December, Council will organise a public hearing for mid-February 2015.  All residents who make a submission during the exhibition period will be informed of the February meeting.  Details of the public hearing will be announced in local media in the new year.

The Planning Proposal and all associated documentation including maps, can be viewed on Council’s website via the What’s On Exhibition page at www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/whats-on-public-exhibition or at the following locations during normal business hours.

  • Wingecarribee Shire Council Civic Centre, Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale  NSW  2577
  • Bowral and Mittagong libraries

Submissions can be made in writing and should include the following:

Address to The General Manager, Wingecarribee Shire Council,

  • Quote file number: 5901/35
  • Include your name, residential address and postal address

Submissions objecting to the Planning Proposal must clearly state the reasons for any objection.

Please note that the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 requires the disclosure of donations and gifts when making planning applications or submissions in respect of planning applications.  A Political Donations Declaration Form can be downloaded from Council’s website at www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/whats-on-public-exhibition.

Submissions can be subsequently lodged with Council in person at the Council’s Elizabeth Street Civic Centre, in writing to Wingecarribee Shire Council, PO Box 141 Moss Vale  NSW  2577 or via email to wscmail@wsc.nsw.gov.au.

Staff from Council’s Planning Department will also be on hand at Council’s forthcoming Hill Top Information Kiosk on Wednesday 19 November to answer any questions residents may have.  This Information Kiosk will be held from 4pm to 6pm in the Hill Top Community Centre.
