Wingecarribee Shire Council in conjunction with the Mittagong, Bowral and Moss Vale Business Chambers are set to celebrate the spirit of Christmas by decorating the Shire’s leading shopping precincts with festive banners and flags.

In total almost 60 Christmas themed banners will be installed in Bowral, Mittagong and Moss Vale in time for the festive season.

Council’s Strategic and Community Development Manager, Mark Pepping said he hoped the banners would bring some added Christmas cheer to the Shire.

“In recent years the centres have been noticeably lacking in Christmas decorations.

“The introduction of the street banners are designed to bring a bit of festive colour to the Shire in the lead up to the holiday period,” Mr Pepping said.

The banners will be installed on flag poles and light poles throughout the three towns starting Monday 5 December.

Installation will involve mounting adjustable brackets which will allow for alternate banners to be fixed to promote other major events and festivals throughout the year.

“Should community feedback from this year’s Christmas trial be positive, it’s definitely something we’ll look at running every year,” Mr Pepping added.
