Wingecarribee Shire Council is calling for applications from interested community members to join its Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.

Three appropriately qualified external members are required to join the independent committee which will provide advice and assurance to the General Manager and governing body of Council on a range of matters.

Areas that the committee would review include compliance, risk management, fraud control, financial management, governance and service reviews.

Key criteria considered essential for the roles include independence from Council and its staff, relevant professional qualifications, knowledge and expertise.  Understanding of, or experience in local government, the role of corporate governance in organisations and current or prior experience with similar committees is also considered essential.

Suspended councillors are ineligible to sit on the committee.

The three external committee members, one of whom will be appointed as Chair of the committee, generally sit for a period of three to five years at which point the members are rotated.

The establishment of the new Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee follows a resolution adopted by Council’s Interim Administrator Viv May PSM on 21 April 2021 calling for the dissolution of the existing committee.

Remuneration will be provided to the three successful external members.

Expressions of interest close at 4.30pm on Friday 18 June 2021.
